Along with the natural source of brine, Ward's chemical success depends largely on its excellence in customer service, expertise in its industry and its 22 years experience with Calcium Chloride. As the largest producer of Calcium Chloride pellets, in North America, Ward Chemical is aware that its job begins with educating and supporting its customers. Furthermore, the company's mission is to continue as the industry leader of Calcium Chloride; therefore, the motto is to work hard on delivering the best quality products and services.

Calcium Chloride Pellets as Ice Suppressor

Calcium chloride pellets are circular in shape and are one of the many forms of calcium chloride. The spherical form makes the pellets very popular between all the other freeze suppressors, most of them which are chloride. The pellets have the ability to roll like small balls; thus, they work best with ice melt spreaders, and have an immediate advantage, over other forms, in most applications.

Calcium Chloride Pellets as Dust Suppressor

The ability to attract moisture makes them very successful in dust control, especially for semi-dry, semi-humid, and very humid climates. In fact, with frequent application, calcium chloride can reduce dust by 30 to 80%. Interestingly, Wards chemical expects western Canada to use 10 times more calcium chloride for dust control, than for ice control.

Impact of Calcium Chloride Pellets

  • Metal corrosion
  • Degradation to nearby vegetation
  • Degradation to surface water
  • Degradation to groundwater and aquatic species
